Issues I work with
I often get asked “what type of counselling do you offer?” and “what issues do your work with?” My answer to this is that I work with the individual, unique person that you are.
You may come for counselling saying you are suffering with depression, anxiety or a loss of a loved one. However, your experience is unique to you. I offer a relationship which is confidential, non-judgemental and genuine.
You may come saying you are struggling with:
- Not feeling good enough
- Not feeling able to take risks
- Feeling a lack of motivation
- Not feeling able to just be yourself
- Not really knowing who you are
- Not feeling able to assert yourself
- Not feeling able to say "no"
- Having trouble communicating in relationships
- Not being able to control anger
- Not being able to move on from something in the past
- Having problems in relationships
Or numerous other issues...
All of these things can cause you to suffer from anxiety and low mood and can lead to coping behaviours.
For example.
You may come for sessions for anxiety. Your anxiety will be unique to you and I will work with you to understand your anxiety and how you can take the power back because in my experience people struggling with anxiety feel powerless with it. Feeling that they are at its mercy. However, with some understanding of what anxiety is, what its purpose is, and an understanding of your relationship with it, can help you take back control.
You may come to sessions because you feel bad about yourself or you may be living your life to please others. You may have a bully in your head telling you that you are not good enough. These feeling of not being worthy can be at the root of many other problems. I will work with you to build an accepting relationship with yourself where you will learn to love and care for yourself.
