About me

My name is Philomena and I am a qualified counsellor who works in private practice.

I am an accredited and registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

My training is “integrative”.  What this means is that I have studied and trained in several counselling theories and am able to adapt my approach to your needs.

The most important thing about my approach is developing a relationship of trust with you.  I provide a space for you to talk which is confidential, safe and non-judgemental.

I do not give you advice as I feel that you are the expert in your own life.  However, I will be along side you as you find your own way always looking ahead with you and helping you explore stumbling blocks and ways to overcome them.  I also will be beside you if you need to look back at any painful parts of your life in order for you to gain a better awareness of yourself and how you are in the world and process any unfinished business from the past.

My own counselling journey is the reason I trained to be a counsellor.  I have been in your shoes and found my way through my own therapy.  It can be very hard to reach out but in doing so you can begin to heal.

I work with many presenting issues.  However, I see these issues such as anxiety or depression as a symptom of something underlying in the life of the person.  I therefore work on what is underneath these feelings. What they are communicating to us.

I have worked with: Anxiety, depression, low self-esteem/worth, self-harm, Loss and grief, relationship issues, confidence, sexual assault/abuse and many more…….

I have a special interest in working with self-esteem issues.  I believe that many problems is life have their root in  feelings of self worth.

I work with age's  from adolescence to past retirement age. I offer face to face counselling or remote counselling via video or telephone.  I will help you decide which would be the best fit for you.
